Try this one on for size. "Sharing your bread with the hungry, sheltering the oppressed and the homeless; Clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own." IS 58:7

Like what you are reading? There is more, much more You can be a light! Your wounds can heal quickly! To find out how, get out THE HOLY BIBLE and Read Isaiah 58 "Restorer of ruined homesteads." vs 12 Yes, you CAN DO IT!

This poses at least one interesting question: how do I go about reporting this story as having no business on Newsvine? It's definitely not a duplicate (thank God), it's correctly categorized with the "love", "jesus", "bible" and "health" tags, there's no link that could be defective, it's accurate in the sense that Isaiah 58 does actually say that (although arguably inaccurate in that giving your clothes to the poor won't cure your stomach ulcer), it's not advertising (unless you count propaganda as advertising), and as far as I can tell, it doesn't clearly breach the "Newsvine code of honour". But I so desperately want to report it, and I think most readers will agree that this post qualifies for "joke" status at best, and "spam" at worst. What to do?

I agree Louis. I think the real problem here is that many of us already have a negative response when people try to push their religious beleifs on us (through t.v., radio, even door-to-door). Newsvine gives everyone a voice, and unfortunately some people will use it to sell their faith. Personally, I feel like "Advertising" may be the best current category to report this with.

Agree with Louis and seanzo. Have seen a couple of articles similar to this. What to do, NV team?

I agree, this is not a confession booth. This is a news site. No need to religious or moral preaching. NV team, take a look at this please.

Shouldn't this be removed as Spam? How is this NEWS? I don't think most people come to newsvine to read some person proselytizing and ranting about the bible curing disease...

Any reason not to replace "advertising" with "spam". It would cover "unsolicited, unwanted, irrelevant, or inappropriate" messages or advertising.

I've reported it as advertising, if only to flag the attention of the Newsvine team so they can let us know how to deal with this sort of thing.

If this is an inappropriate post let the rules of the site dictate so. NO STORIES ABOUT RELIGION OR PERSONAL RELIGIOUS BELIEFS.

That said, we will need to cancel the site for lack of stories. Christians, fundamentalists especially, provide daily fodder with their odd twists on what Christians need to believe in order to see heaven. Edit them off - not an appropriate post. They push their ideas in the press everyday - as evil as many of their ideas are.

Muslims are guilty or creating 'unacceptable' news for Newsvine when one considers the brouhaha over the belief that Mohammad must not be depicted. I seeded a post earlier to day with his picture as interpreted by the Danes - mea culpa - how despicable of me showing my beliefs on this site.

In fact, the Iraq war needs less coverage as does the Iranian leadership since religious beliefs play a role in their story development. We should not post anything about the Holocaust or lack thereof. Especially if you buy the Iranians beliefs, it did not happen. And, of course, that belief about the pesky problem of whether or not Israel should continue to exist. The Iranians have the belief it should not. So, since it is a belief (or spam or advertising), get it out of these Newsvine Pages. And for that matter, no more Israel of Vatican stories. They are theocracies after all.

If you don't want to read something - DON'T. Leave the right of others to express their opinions alone. Argue if your beliefs differ, but not that they don't have the right to have an opinion. And quit trying to censor. But if you must, make sure it applies to all posts that are even remotely similar. I have not seen any of your 'handles' under other stories that describe religious beliefs.

The bottom line, in this instance, was a very nice post aimed at making the lot of have-nots better, the mental outlook of the afflicted less stressed, and maybe helping someone solve a personal and hurtful family problem. It has been made very UGLY, even though it has not yet caused a riot or other disturbance. That might make it news as defined by the comments attached.

Those of you who have responded so negatively would also be the first to squeal if your posts and seeds were considered inappropriate. This was the opinion of one and opinion only. Self proclaimed righteous censors are not needed here or appreciated by me and other like minded individuals.

@FrankieD: I don't think anyone has a problem with religious articles, what people do have a problem with is articles which have NO NEWS or anything worth discussing. If this type of post is allowed, I think I'll start an article everyday that is a joke. No news, just a joke.

Then maybe someone else can post one telling us about what they had for lunch. Followed by a person who tells us what they did today after work.

Those type of posts have their place, NV isn't that place.

@FrankieD: The posts about the Mohammed cartoons are different in that they're about world events that were precipitated by fundamentalist beliefs, and not an expression of those beliefs per se.

This post is absurd, and I'm sure even a vast majority of Christians will agree. I've read spam about increasing the size of my manhood that was better argued and presented.
